Husqvarna needs to recruit more top-notch-engineers. But how can we make working with robotic lawn mowers in a small town in Sweden appealing?
By tapping into an iconic meme and software engineers’ love for gaming.
In time for the 30th anniversary of legendary game DOOM, we programmed the game onto Husqvarna’s robotic lawn mowers, making it playable on the on-board menu display.
The update was then made available to download through the Husqvarna app so that users could play DOOM on their lawn mowers in their very own backyard. We also hosted a deathmatch multiplayer-tournament at the world’s biggest gaming festival, Dreamhack, where all visitors could give it a try and compete for a chance to play on the big E-sport stage.
